AT LOVE'S COMMAND By, Karen Witemeyer

Captain Matthew Hangar leads a group of Mercenaries, ex calvary men, men hardened by war who wish to come to the aid of those innocent and in need of justice. When one of their own becomes severely injured, they seek help and find a lady doctor, Josephine Burkett. Matthew is dubious of her skills but soon finds her capable as well as admirable--not only for her skills but her beauty too.

Josephine respects Matthew for his loyalty to his friend and is aware of what the men are capable of. She suddenly finds herself in need of their services and begs Matthew to help her brother who has been kidnapped. Matthew puts the men to a vote and they agree to help; but when they go to help, they find things are not all what they seem and Josephine, insisting on following them, is in danger as well.

When Matthew finds Josephine is now in the crosshairs herself, he realizes his heart is on the line as well and he must decide if he can risk his and the lives of his men to obtain what love commands.

THE PROTECTIVE ONE By Shelley Shepard Gray

Shellely Shepard Gray is one of my favorite authors whether she is writing Romantic Suspense, Contemporary Romance, or Amish Love stories, her stories are page burners. The Loyal One is part of a series called Walnut Creek. Each book in the series covers the relationship of one of a group of eight friends. In this one, Katie Steury finds herself struggling to follow her dream of turning her childhood home into a bed and breakfast. She finds herself needing to ask her friend Harley Lambright to help; but they have a history of misunderstandings and Harley may not want to help. However, Harley is willing to help but finds Katie is hiding a secret, one she doesn't want anyone to know, her mother's hoarding. He needs more help to do the job and she needs to learn to trust him.

Their relationship needs a second chance. No one is perfect and we all struggle with hurts and tragedies. This one is worth your time. In fact, I would get the whole series. Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read the ebook. The opinions expressed are my own.

YOURS TRULY THOMAS By Rachel Fordham

Yours Truly Thomas is a fascinating book because it develops a plot where the heroine Penny Ercanbeck works at the Dead letter office. She keeps coming across letters from a Thomas to a Clara. She isn't suppose to get involved but she can't help herself. She wants to help Thomas. So she goes to find Clara and discovers she is dead.

Penny's own circumstances are becoming less appealing as she and her mother aren't on the best of terms since her father died and now her uncle is going to rescue them and insist Penny marry some much older men so she can be taken care of.

Penny decides to head out on an adventure. She has discovered the town where Thomas lives and she plans to find him and, well, she has no idea. Once in Azure Springs, she and her dog make friends quickly but also get into some mischief; however she meets Thomas and things progress better than they both realize until a fire risk both their lives and their budding relationship. Read the book to find out what Penny and her dog discover in Iowa. It is a sweet read for the summer.

I received this book from Revell through Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

SHALL WE DANCE By Shellely Shepard Gray

Shall We Dance is a fun romantic novel, the first in a new series, by Shelley Shepard Gray. I give this one 5 stars and highly recommend it for your Keeper Shelf. Shannon Murphy is starting a new life in more ways than one. She has a new Dance Studio and above it a new apartment with which she is going to share with two sisters she has only found out she has and they've all agreed to move in together for a time to get to know each other.

Dylan Lange is a cop who lost a bet with his buddies and taking dance lessons are the consequences. He doesn't get off to a good first impression with Shannon but as the lessons progress, they get to know each other better. Dylan has a sister who has survived a trauma and lives with him. She is trying to get out and live again--complicating his life and hers.

On top of all this, Shannon's new sister is Dylan's partner on the job. As you can see, the plot thickens. The dance scenes are sweetly orchestrated. I am sure you will enjoy. I received this one from Blackstone Publishing through Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

EVER FAITHFUL By Karen Barnett

Karen Barnett's books with National Parks as the background are a very enjoyable read. I especially enjoyed Ever Faithful. It was nostalgic, romantic, and intriguing all at the same time.

Elsie Brooks is a park ranger's daughter who has worked summers in the parks most of her life. She is trying to earn enough money to go to college to be a teacher. This summer she ends up with a teaching job at the Civilian Conservation Corp Camp. There she meets Nate Webber who is a very responsible person with leadership qualities; however he seems to avoid her and any homework she hands out. Then she stumbles on the fact that Nate can't read and offers to tutor him in private. As they meet for his lessons, they develop more than a friendship for each other. Things become complicated, however, when suspicions fall on Nate for being the arsonist setting fires in the park.

This is one of my favorites so far by Karen and I highly recommend it with 5 stars. Thanks to Waterbrook and Multnomah for providing this ebook through Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY By Karen Witemeyer

Ms. Witemeyer always writes good books. I can't wait for her next title in a series, they are always detailed in description and character. Her plots are always full of twists and turns and her character's either are eccentric or have unusual occupations. More than Words can Say is a follow up to More than meets the eye. If you read More than Meets the Eye then you found yourself wanting to know more of Zacharias Hamilton, a tough introvert, with a big heart.

In More than Words Can Say, Zacharias meets his match in Abigail Kemp. She is a feisty, outgoing young lady who knows what she wants...and what she wants is to keep her Bakery Business going and remain the Woman Entrepreneur she longs to be. To do that she has to find a husband, quick, to be her, in name only, partner so that the town council will allow her bakery to stay in business and she can continue to run things as she has.

Zacharias finds himself agreeing to the unusual contract because he's attracted to Abigail and her sticky buns; but Zacharias is not a pushover. Still he becomes a strong supporter of Abby the longer they continue their budding relationship.

Both have deep secrets that could undermine their, in name only, marriage but this read is worth the time to find out what those secrets are and how everything turns out, no pun intended. I received this ebook through Netgalley from Bethany House. The opinions expressed are my own.
